Who We Are

We are a fun-loving, globe-trotting, homeschooling family of one crazy mama and her four amazing kiddos.

From toddler to teen, and a mama full of dreams, we live for experiencing just about everything!

We're definitely marching to the beat of our own drum. We always do our own thing, we're never part of the crowd. We live against the grain, always cheering for the underdog.

As a mother, my goal is to do everything in my power to give my kids an amazing childhood as they travel this world. We live for experiencing every facet of culture upon which we can get our hands.

From zoos, museums, and science centers; to historical sites and homes; to state and national parks; to more modern experiences such as factory tours, live theater, movie sets, symphonies, orchestras, and a liberal dose of boy bands that don't like to be called boy bands...

We've traveled across the country and back, multiple times, to immerse ourselves into the things that make our hearts happy.

We've dined with the Navajo during their Treaty Days Celebration; we've woven baskets with the Gullah under the Spanish Moss of the Carolina Low Country; and we've pirogued through the most remote bayous of Cajun Country...

We've been thousands of places across all 48 continental states... We've met so many people and have experienced so much. We try our best to engage in educational experiences along the way. We've earned dozens of Junior Rangers badges in our National Park system, and have even been invited to the White House on behalf of President Obama to represent the Junior Ranger Program.

Together, we make quite the crew.

Individually, who are we?

Gretchen is a photography-loving travel junkie with a serious chocolate addiction...

Bear is a 16-year-old music-loving sci-fi nerd who is well on her way to becoming an amazing chef. As long as we don't ask her to laundry on the same day.

Bibby is our 12-year-old tender-hearted, compassionate, marine-biologist-in-the-making... Anything science, nature, artistic, or crafty, and Bibby is your girl.

Ogie is the best little/big brother out there. Poor guy puts up with SO much girl stuff, he deserves a medal even if he never accomplishes anything else in life. In the mean time, he's a YouTube/video game/ipad Master, and an expert in all things NERF.

And, last but not least, our glue, Little Miss Ribby Roo. Our one-year-old bag of personality that loves all things, well, everything. She loves to bake wooden cupcakes, operate on stuffed animals, and shoot us all with NERF guns. She loves to run and climb, and absolutely loses her mind for puppies.

What We Aren't

What we aren't? We aren't fancy. We're definitely not trendy. We didn't create this blog because we're "in the know" or because we've achieved some exalted world traveler status that no one else has. We're not selling anything. We have no ulterior motives. We are simply here to have fun! Let's share a laugh! Spread some cheer! Pass along a smile!

So pull up a chair, or kick back your recliner. Grab your favorite beverage, and let's have a good time!
