VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker

With so many toys on the market geared for babies beginning to walk, it's really hard to figure out which ones are worth the investment. On that note, I would like to suggest making your decisions based upon the overall usefulness of a toy, beyond just serving as a walking device.

I bought this toy long before Ribby was ready to walk. Because the actual toy panel of this item detaches for play on its own, we used it for the first few months simply for the lights and sounds when we pushed the buttons. The toy panel is lightweight, has it's own easily grippable handle, and fits well in your lap along with baby for playtime.

Now, long after my little one has learned to walk, we STILL use this toy almost every single day for all of the interactive opportunities it provides.

There are two modes that each enable different responses from the buttons. There is a 5 key piano that teaches colors, sounds, and the musical notes; three gears that spin; a musical cow; a fence that opens and closes; three shaped pieces that click into place over buttons that light up and sing songs when pressed; and a sun that lights up and sings when pressed.

There is also a toy phone that makes various "phone call" sounds, but the hand piece itself is not attached to the walker in any way, so, for us, it spends more time in the toy drawer than it does on the unit. But, the button on the unit is what makes the actual noises, so the sounds are still functional even without the handset.

All in all, each of the buttons generate lights, music, verbal responses for learning different skills, and assorted farmyard noises, phrases, and giggling.

The actual time we spent using this item as a walker was pretty limited. It functions well for that purpose, though. But, in my opinion, the best part of this toy was getting several months of fun out of it before she started walking; and then knowing it will still be an awesome toy for quite a while to come.

The price is especially reasonable when you consider the overall value in getting a toy that will last well beyond the learning-to-walk period of your child's life.
