The real jewels of Biscayne National Park require a boat to appreciate. The park is in place to protect coral reefs and ancient shipwrecks. It wasn't in our schedule for the day to enjoy such an adventure, but we did have a good time strolling the boardwalks and hanging out along the trails on the little peninsula that juts out with beautiful green water on each side.
If you take your time to look through the shallow waters, you can see all kinds of small fish, pipe fish, rocks, coral formations, and so much more. Obviously, it would be loads of fun to be out there snorkeling, but that will be something to keep on a future to-do list!
